They found on Mars the remains of an ancient lake that could have been favorable for life

The Ladon Valles region of Mars is where a group of researchers from the Planetary Society organisation claim to have discovered an old lake.

The discovery was made possible thanks to information and pictures from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Catherine Weitz, who oversaw this Mars study, said, "We found that the Ladon Basin region, within Margaritifer Terra
records a long history of water flow that began relatively early in the history of Mars3.8 billion years ago and continued until about 2.5 billion years ago,
Why could there have been life
The light-toned stratified sediments visible in the photos indicate relatively modest bed tilt angles and contain clays along a 200-kilometer length,
according to Weitz, whose team's research was published in the journal Icarus. This, according to him, is proof that there was most likely a lake in this area of Mars.
