Microsoft has posted a support statement on its website indicating that as of January 10, 2023

it would no longer be providing updates for Windows 8.1. After that date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for Windows 8.1.

According to Microsoft, subscribers of Microsoft 365 will no longer receive feature-focused

security-focused, and other high-quality updates for the Office programmes after the support for Windows 8.1 expires on the specified date.

Therefore, consumers must update their devices to a Windows OS that is suitable if they wish to continue utilising Office apps. If not, they have the option of using Office online.

Recall that on January 12, 2016, Microsoft stopped providing support for Windows 8.

Due to its mobile-first UI design, the platform received negative feedback from many users when it was first introduced in 2012.

Even while Windows 8.1 returned to a desktop-like appearance, it did not significantly enhance the overall Windows 8 PC experience.
