Mattel Inc. has agreed to make SpaceX-themed toys in partnership with Elon Musk’s rocket company.
In 2023, Mattel, the business that popularised Barbie dolls and Hot Wheels, will start marketing toys
inspired by SpaceX under its Matchbox brand. Matchbox is best known to generations of kids for its toy vehicles.
The toy manufacturer also intends to introduce merchandise inspired by SpaceX on Mattel Creations
its online marketplace for collectors looking for limited-edition goods
The Starship rocket ship, which Elon Musk hopes to use to travel to Mars someday, as well as the Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft used to transport
transport personnel to and from the International Space Station are all produced by Space Exploration Technologies Corp.
"According to Nick Karamanos, senior vice president for Entertainment Partnerships at Mattel, "
We take pleasure in our ability to create goods and experiences that celebrate cultural moments and inspire humanity.
"A vice president at SpaceX, Brian Bjelde, continued, "At SpaceX, we think that a future in which mankind is out among the stars is intrinsically more interesting than one in which we are not.
Despite the fact that this is SpaceX's first foray into the toy market, Mattel was already producing toys with a NASA theme in the 1960s.
