In a nutshell, Mattel and SpaceX have reached a multi-year partnership to develop a range of toys and memorabilia that will make their debut in 2023.
Toys with a SpaceX theme will be created and sold under the Matchbox name.
Through its direct-to-consumer platform for cooperation and release, Mattel will also introduce collectibles
The deal's financial details weren't disclosed to the public.
Brian Bjelde, vice president of SpaceX, said the company is eager to collaborate with Mattel to encourage the next generation of space explorers and aficionados.
Despite the lack of information, it is probably safe to infer that the Matchbox line will feature a variety of SpaceX rockets.
Even stranger inventions like Starlink satellites or crew capsules could appear.
A copy of the Tesla Roadster that SpaceX flew into space back in 2018 has already been created by Hot Wheels, another toy brand owned by Mattel.
The die-cast model has a spacesuit-clad mannequin called Starman by SpaceX in the driver's seat, just like the real thing
The Mars Perseverance Rover, which touched down on the Red Planet in 2021, was also made in miniature form by Hot Wheels.
Presumably, the collectible line will include more expensive, intricate objects. Could Elon Musk get an action figure soon?
