Many fans had great hopes that much-anticipated films like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarök would appear at the event, but these hopes have been dashed.
Along with Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, and Take-Two Interactive, PlayStation joins a number of other illustrious companies in cancelling their attendance at Gamescom 2022.
Typically one of the biggest exhibitors at Gamescom, Sony has garnered accolades in the past and has been utilised to display third-party titles.
Since the epidemic, it appears that many publishers have stopped organising pre-release game demos, so they would have little to display at a significant public event.

Instead, companies like PlayStation have concentrated on their own rules for reporting the most recent game releases, such Sony's State of Play.
Gamescom's organisers assert that over 250 firms will attend this year's exhibition despite multiple high-profile absences
nevertheless, only a small number of significant publishers, including Bandai Namco, THQ Nordic, and Koch Media, have publicly confirmed their attendance.
The entire exposition centre and all of its adjacent rooms have been reserved for usage
fans can still anticipate some interesting announcements, reveals, and trailers even though GamesCom organisers have not yet released an official exhibitor list.
