NASA, ESA to Discuss Mars Sample Return Mission
On Wednesday, July 27, NASA will have a media teleconference at 11 a.m. EDT (8 a.m. PDT) to go through the design of its Mars Sample Return campaign.
As part of the conceptual design phase, which is the stage when the architecture is polished and established for the Mars Sample Return campaign,
NASA and the ESA (European Space Agency) recently held a systems requirement review.
The architecture proposal, which is scheduled to be finalised in September 2022, will be presented at the briefing.
By returning carefully chosen samples for analysis with the most cutting-edge tools available on Earth
the Mars Sample Return campaign may completely transform how humankind views Mars
The first mission to bring back samples from another planet, as well as the first launch from the surface of another planet, will be accomplished through this strategic relationship with ESA.
The materials to be returned are believed to represent the best chance to uncover the early evolution of Mars, including the potential for life.
Perseverance is presently collecting these samples while exploring Jezero Crater, home to an old river delta.
